Reddit became a hot mess of errors and account bans for no reason
Created account? Oh well, too bad we are banning you. And no, we don't feel you need to know why by default. We are not going to even inform you that we banned you before you log out. Sorry we, don't care about the fact that you spent an hour writing comments and posting long question in one of subreddits. It's all now gone. Sorry, we don't care. User experience does not matter. We are too busy making user interface overcomplicated and CPU heavy. Your electricity and time you spend waiting for things to load are free to us. We don't pay for that and we are happy that you do. What do you mean browsing reddit is not supposed to be as heavy on processing power as mining cryptos? Why are you even bothering that we made reddit horrible and unusable? Just go away!
I think they banned a lot of people and reddit seems like a less lively place today, even if that doesn't match officially released numbers. But you can see less and less users being active. And that includes a random selection of subs, not only for specific topics.
I guess half of really active users just got banned. But the platform overall seems to become niche compared to new alternatives. Not only nice alternatives though.
I sympathize, my entire 13-year-old account was killed one morning, globally shadowbanned, tens of thousands of comments vanished with no sign or explanation. Anything moderators approved was quickly blocked again, with no reason or audit trail.
I used the appeal portal, got an apology saying my appeal was granted, and it stayed dead. Now the appeal page cheerfully declares my account is fixed (it isn't) and blocks me from accessing any kind of support.
I pulled up an old account from 5+ years ago that I used for a throwaway resume review, seeking help, and it too, died exactly the same way.
I still haven't gone back. The injustice rankles, and it's stressful to live in fear of it happening a third time.
It takes sooo long for your account to gain enough rep to be able to comment/post again without your comments being instantly shadowbanned as well. I don't know how this site is still in business.
I stopped using Reddit when they blocked accessibility tools. Clearly they don't care about users.
Just make sure you log on and delete your account, why leave them with all those posts and information.
You cannot log into account which does not exist according to reddit.
